LOTUS & ASH is more of a dream than anything else. It’s the stationery press & design company that I have developed during my time at university, since 2006, and that I can continue to develop for years to come, and that I hope can both preserve the art of letter writing and make handtouches in the digital world.

LOTUS: mei lin, my middle name, chosen by my malaysian grandmother, means beautiful lotus flower. the lotus flower is a symbol of new beginnings.

& : the ampersand, my favorite glyph. LOTUS & ASH is all about connections between people, ideas, and the tactile and digital.

ASH : a hark to my irish heritage, my birthday falls under the ash tree of celtic tree mythology. however, there are, of course, the associations of ash and death… and, it goes without saying that lotus & ash will take care of you from new beginnings to the end.
